Upload your next posts: they go at the top of the grid. Your username, photo and bio go in “Edit profile”.

Comes out 1080 px wide, as a PNG, with the profile and the whole grid. Instagram shows the grid at 3:4: a 4:5 post loses just its sides, a square one an eighth on each side and a reel an eighth at the top and bottom.

Your images and details never leave your browser: nothing is uploaded or saved.

How to preview your Instagram feed before posting

  1. Upload your next posts

Pick the images you're going to post. If you like, upload the ones already on your profile too and put them below.

  2. Put them in order

The top left is the last one you'll post: Instagram shows the newest first.

  3. Download the image

Your profile and grid in one image, to show your team or a client before posting.

Good to know

  • Look at the grid from afar

In three columns each post looks small: make the subject clear even when the text can't be read.

  • Mind the crop

The grid crops each post to 3:4. If a post has text near its edges, check it still reads in the thumbnail.

  • Alternate

A grid reads better when posts with and without text, or light and dark colors, take turns.

Frequently asked questions

What format does Instagram use for the profile grid?

3:4, vertical: the grid stopped being square in 2025. A 4:5 post loses just its sides, a square one an eighth on each side and a reel an eighth at the top and bottom.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The preview and the image you download are made in your browser: nothing is uploaded or saved.

How many characters fit in the bio?

Up to 150, counting spaces and line breaks. The link goes in its own field and doesn't count.
